POTTY EPIPHANY: THE $12 WELBORNE CATALOG

Your kind comments about my writing are much appreciated, but let me let you in on a secret....I study a great deal. I have been studious since I was a small boy, and that is because when I was potty trained my mother said...”Here take this book and study while you are doing your duty”. I have read of all of Shakespeare’s plays on the potty, and have also read all of Pindar’s poetry in the original Greek on the same throne. This has made me an authority on potty literature, which is why I strongly suggest you read all of my articles in that context...context matters.

So I have absolutely no trouble giving Ron Welborne’s latest catalog the highest rating possible: 10 Potties.

For only $12 you can get a major education from Ron, and I can think of no better place to discover the inherent design differences between single-ended and push pull circuits. It is clear to me that as far as serious edge of the art tube kits Ron is the American edge, and his catalog will bring out the “Christmas time boy” in you. No let me say that better...here is the place that you will see all of the gadgets, gizmos and thingamagigs that you need for fine tuning your amplifiers.

Alan Kimmel has designed many of Ron’s kits topology and Alan is promoting his unique constant current topologies in amplifiers, line stages and phono stages, which is cool. In the 1970s I was using constant current differential input/drivers stages in my push/pull amplifiers and they worked very well indeed, and at NYAL we also used hybrid constant current circuits.

Of course Ron is best known for his single-ended triode kits that exploit the amazing KR tubes, and I want to make this clear....Ron’s KRSET amplifiers/kits may be the best way to experience the KR mystery from the 2A3 to the 52, from 3 watts to 25 watts. All of the schematics for his most popular amplifiers, including his push/pulls are in catalog so you can see before you buy. In the back of the catalog Ron also has a bunch of schematics for you to enjoy and contemplate, including the original Western Electric 300B design.

Here is a suggestion from the Guildmeister: Buy Ron’s catalog and leave it on your living room table next to your Harry Abram’s art books, and spray the pages with Chanel No. 5, so that when those supermodel babes come to your living room to listen to your really cool stereo, and pick up Ron catalog...well they are so impressed by the aroma of your tubes that they undress and dance for you.

Can anyone explain to me why women are so turned on by listening to music with tube electronics?
