HI IQ SINGLE-ENDED WISDOM FROM GREAT SCOTT

For those of you who are ex-Yuppies and  have not lived in the Brazilian rain forest with the cannibalistic Jivaro Indians, let me explain, once again, what tribal wisdom is all about....it is all about living in harmony with the natural world and knowing how to survive, which means you have to know how to properly use magic charms, and tools. So when I implore you not to plow a field with a Ferrari, or go elephant hunting with a BB gun, or eat cloves of garlic before you have your first date with a supermodel, all that I am doing is acting as a typical elder of the tribe,,,,making sure that everyone has the best chance of realizing their dream.

Which is why it is so important to pay attention, once again, to Scott Frankland, who as you know is a wise elder of the PF tribe. I asked both Scott and Dave Robinson permission to print his article that appeared in the spring 98 edition of PF because it is so important for all the young men in our tribe to have the special knowledge it contains. More and more gifted listeners are experiencing the beauty of single-ended triodes...but not in a maximized way...and that is not a good thing...because each of you has an inalienable right to enjoy  unfettered aural sex.

Scott’s exploration of the eccentric mating habits of single-ended triodes is a powerful education in one the fundamental intellectual paradoxes of the audio arts. Let me explain...after you read Scott’s article you will scratch your head and wonder how it is possible that a circuit with so many inherent weakness can be so musically hypnotic, while circuits which are vastly superior, from an electrical point of view, leaves us yawning? And mostly importantly, how is it possible that 99.999% of those who are using SET, and loving them, are not using the right speakers...and they still sound magically?

So I ask you all to consider the following....try following Scott’s advice about what is,  in fact, the optimal speaker interface for these eccentric circuits.

As I have previously noted Scott has been criticized by many of our leading SET savants because they think he is trying to discredit their work. Not true. What appears in Scott’s article wasn’t made up by him...this knowledge has been around long before Scott was born. Do you remember the famous rock and roll song...If Loving You is Wrong, Who Wants to Be Right? Your body knows much more about musical ecstasy than your head!

Now you know why I send Scott one dozen roses and two dozen bagels on his birthday.
